ZENworks Linux Management Pre-requisites

Server Hardware
The Primary and Secondary ZLM7 server will only install to a 32 bit Intel platform.
There are no plans to add Itanium, Power, IBM z-, i- or p- series support.
Make sure you spec the server well for a POC or live deployment. The documentation (http://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks7/lm7install/data/bx8k2mb.html) claims a minimum of a Pentium III with 256 MB RAM..
My recommendation:
- Dual Pentium 4 or better
- 2GB RAM or better
- SCSI or SATA
- RAID for resilence
- Gigabit ethernet
Software requirements
Distribution Support
ZLM 7 is only supported on a clean SLES 9 SP1/SP2 server.
This means SLES 9. Not Open Enterprise Server (eDirectory clashes), not Red Hat Enterprise Linux (not supported), not SUSE Linux 10 (not supported).
Also re-read the hardware support above.
Minimal requeriments
If you plan to install zlm7 into a SLES 9 minimal (No X), you have to have this packages installed:
Minimal system (no X)
* + glib2 * + gettext * + python * + XFree86-libs
Required Packages
The installation requires glib2.
Make sure you select it during your SLES 9 installation (or as part of your AutoYaST scripts)
I also include gettext and a few other favourites (nice text editor etc).
