Securing chat.
Summary: Using a multi-protocol chat client like pidgin that will allow chat of msn, aim, google, yahoo, etc etc, will allow one to encrypt chat with others using pidgin and the pidgin encrypt plugin.

- Download and install pidgin
- Configure pidgin for your protocol(s)
- After you install pidgin, go to Accounts | add | add your "protocol" - for example, if you use yahoo, add yahoo.
- After you install pidgin, go to Accounts | add | add your "protocol" - for example, if you use yahoo, add yahoo.
- Confirm you can login with your account (IE yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google mail (gmail) etc etc
- Next download and install the Pidgin Encrypt Software Download the pidgin encrypt plugin
- After you install the pidgin Encryption software, exit your pidgin by right clicking the green circle in the bottom right system tray and selecting quite.
- Now start pidgin (the encryption software should be initialized and ready to be configured).
- After you install the pidgin encrypt plugin, simply enable the plugin in the plugin preference (right click the green circle in your far right system tray.

- Now to be able to encrypt chat, your buddies will also need to use pidgin and pidgin encrypt plugin. So go add them to your buddy list.
- When you first connect with a buddy that has the encryption plugin, you'll generate your own key and exchange keys.
- You know its encrypted when you see this icon:
