task list

  1. X Obtain OES 2 activation code and ensure automatic updates through the channel works. If NSS is not used, only charge for eDir license
  2. X Once activation codes for sles 10 and oes 2 are working, update box to all new patches
  3. X setup slpda for vmedir1
    1. X configure as DA
    2. X configure all servers to point to vmedir1 as their slpda
  4. X configure nwc1 and nwc2, app2 and nwmaster to not respond to icmp pings...so NW clients think they are invisible and won't authenticate to them.
  5. X Once updates is working, add edir replica to vmedir1
    1. Ensure 3 replicas per partition, then retire nw 6.0 servers that are no longer used.
  6. Connect gwmail3 to SAN
    1. Ensure disk performance is acceptable for GW
  7. Perform pre-migration health check
  8. Install and configure GW 8. Migrate Primary domain to Mail3 and upgrade it to gw8
  9. Create new GW 8 post office and pilot users (migrate select staff)
  10. Once pilot is successful, migrate other agents and their databases to gwmail 3
  11. While monitoring large PO move, build out and configure Vmwares for edir/gwmon
  12. Install and configure RELOAD
    1. verify reload
  13. archive - stored on file share user1
    1. can you open gw 7 archives with gw 8?
  14. move and upgrade Primary
    1. validation test a few IT users on a new GW 8 PO
      1. verify archive
      2. gw 8 caching
  15. migrate bectel PO off old hardware to gwmail1 (after monitoring period and after gwmail1 is rebuilt to oes 2 sp2) -- ## verify reload works, including migrate back - in preparation for migrating large PO to GW 8 server.
  16. install new webaccess to VM machine once all Post offices are on GW 8
  17. migrate GWIM to VM
  18. Perform post migration to gw 8 health check
