gotchas

  1. ensure you have the SUN java, haven't tested IBM java
    1. echo $JAVA_HOME
    2. gw 8 added logic to attempt to use the java for c1...then java installed client...then java installed by OS (1.5.0 min. java version).

common practices

  1. do primary domain first!
  2. upgrade sles/OS first...so you get the 1.5.0
  3. maint - structure and contents check...no pending requests
  4. ensure the NEW DC files are in the domain/po and the database version shows 8
  5. quantify disk IO BEFORE upgrade and compare to after upgrade
  6. check LAN performance
