There are some messenger clients which are working with the GroupWise Messenger:

The Novell Messenger, of course
pidgin (formerly known as gaim): http://www.pidgin.im/downloads.php which can connect to several messenger services

Mac users can use the fantastic, free and muti-protocol Adium: http://www.adiumx.com

Windows Trillian Users can use the Trillian Plugin found here: http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/downloads/detail.php?item=121

Windows Mobile Users can use the "GroupWise Messenger on your PocketPC" found here: http://www.omni-ts.com/groupwise-messenger/
